What is link popularity and how does this help with search engine optimization? Link popularity is the total number of web sites that link back to your website. If you ever heard the term “It’s not what you know, but who you know”. The same principle applies to link popularity. The more people/links you know, the higher the popularity.

Lastly, is the popularity of the website. Let’s suppose I had two friends: Friend A is John my neighbor and friend B is the President. Wouldn’t I sound more important if I knew the president of the United States? I would instantly obtain higher recognition.
